In order to continuously promote the Muslim-friendly tourism market, the Northeast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (hereinafter referred to as the Northeast Administration) has been committed to the establishment of a Muslim-friendly environment in the Greater Northeast Tourism Circle for four consecutive years. A total of 53 businesses have obtained Muslim-friendly certification and 66 certification items, gradually improving tourism packages including food, accommodation, sightseeing, shopping, and transportation. Today (6th), the Northeast Coast Management Office held a B2B exchange meeting for the Greater Northeast Coast Tourism Circle at the Taipei Garden Hotel, inviting operators who have passed the Muslim-friendly verification to have face-to-face exchanges with representatives of Taiwan Inbound Travel Agencies. The on-site activities were quite lively, hoping to promote more packaging and cooperation of Muslim travel itineraries and attract more Muslim tourists to Taiwan. Li Yu, director of the Tourism Department of the Northeast Corner Management Office, said that Islam is the second largest religion in the world. With the continuous growth of population and the improvement of middle-class consumption power, Muslim tourism has now become one of the key markets in various countries. In the 2024 "Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI)" jointly released by Mastercard and Crescent Rating, Taiwan continued to rank third in non-OIC destinations, showing that Taiwan has a competitive advantage in the Muslim tourism market; the Northeast Coast Administration has continued to strengthen the international marketing of the Northeast Coast, and has continued to promote Muslim tourism in recent years. In addition to building a Muslim-friendly environment, it also guides tourism operators in the Greater Northeast Coast tourism circle to obtain Muslim certification and gradually accumulate promotion results. This B2B exchange period promotes the promotion of Muslim tourism products, allowing tourists to have a deeper experience in the Northeast Coast, and attracting more domestic and foreign Muslim tourists to visit and travel with peace of mind. Northeast Coast and Yilan Coast National Scenic Areas have diverse characteristics and are close to the Taipei metropolitan area. Many tourism operators in the Greater Northeast Coast tourist circle have obtained Muslim certification, including friendly attractions such as the National Center for Traditional Arts and Fulong Visitor Center; friendly hotels such as Yamagata Pavilion, Jiaoxi Zhongtian Hot Spring Hotel, Just Sleep Jiaoxi, Crystal Spring Hotel, Lakeshore Hotel Yilan, Suao Four Seasons, Lakeshore Time, and Fullon Hotel Fulong Belle; friendly restaurants such as Cliff Cottage, Jiufen Xilaiyuan View Bed and Breakfast, Olivia Brunch, Lakeshore Hotel Yilan, Suao Four Seasons, and Lakeshore Time; friendly experience activities such as the tea ice cream experience at Xingyuan Tea Garden, the mask experience at the Fungus Baby Museum, the bottle lamp painting at Bafankeng Teahouse, and Taiwan's only Muslim-friendly certified bakery Yixiang Village, etc. A special exhibition booth was set up at this exchange meeting, where 14 hotels, restaurants and tourist attractions in the Greater Northeast Coast tourism circle that have obtained Muslim-friendly certification shared their respective highlights of service and tourism features, and had in-depth interactions with representatives of inbound travel agencies to strengthen both parties' understanding of the needs of Muslim travelers and their itinerary planning capabilities. In addition, a special briefing on "Construction of Muslim-friendly Tourism Environment" was arranged at the event to introduce the development potential of the Muslim tourism market and the related construction achievements of the Northeast Corner tourism circle to the participating industry players, helping them to grasp the latest trends and expand more cross-border cooperation opportunities. The size of the global Muslim tourism market continues to grow. This B2B exchange meeting not only provides a platform for industry players to cooperate, but also aims to promote the Muslim-friendly tourism environment in the Greater Northeast region, further attract Muslim tourists to visit Taiwan, and promote local industrial development.
