MEMO Close by the Bitou Cape Geological Park there is an artificial pool that was originally a Taiwanese Abalone breeding pool. As of now, it has been rebuilt as an ocean pool for tourists to swim, play, and dive in. Don’t forget to bring an extra set of clothing!

MEMO Don’t forget to drop by the Bitou Elementary School beside the trail. The tiny yet beautiful school is surrounded by mountains on one side and faces the oceans on the other. Feel free to explore the many art installations in the school.

Old Caoling Tunnel
Details

By train: Take North Link Line and get off at Fulong. Take a nearby hiking trail to reach the destination.

By bus: 1. From Terminal A, Taipei West Bus Station, take Kuo-kuang Bus 1811 (Taipei – Luodong) and get off in Fulong. Take the nearby trail and you’ll reach the tunnel entrance. 2. From Keelung, take Keelung Bus 791 to Fulong. Get off in Fulong, take the nearby trail and you’ll reach the tunnel entrance.
MEMO Cyclists please keep on the right when you cycle in the tunnel. Do not cycle abreast of another cyclist or try overtake him or her, or linger on the road. Watch out for pedestrians, too. In case of an accident, please contact the Traffic Control Center using the emergency speaker in the tunnel. (Note: The tunnel is only open to pedestrians on weekdays. On weekends and holidays, walking is forbidden in the tunnel.)

Caoling Historic Trail

By train: From Fulong Station, take the hiking trail beside it and walk 3.5km to arrive at the Caoling Historic Trail Entrance.
By bus: Take Taiwan Tourist Shuttle (Golden Fulong Route) and get off at Fulong Stop. Take the hiking trail beside it and walk 3.5km to arrive at the Caoling Historic Trail Entrance.
MEMO No food or beverages stalls may be found along the trail. If you wish to picnic, bring your own food and drinks. Most hikers would start their journey from Fulong or Gongliao in the north, pass the Yuanwangkeng (valley), take the Historic Trail, and finally reach the mountain top. You can take a train and get off at Fulong or Gongliao and then take the Caoling Historic Trail near the Xinshe Bridge in Yuanwangkeng. You can take a train in Dali on your way back.

Sandiao Cape Lighthouse

By bus: From Terminal A, Taipei West Bus Station, take Kuo-kuang Bus 1811 (Taipei – Luodong) or 1812 (Taipei – Nangfangao) and get off at Magang. The lighthouse is within walking distance. From Yilan, take Kuo-kuang Bus 1740 (Yilan – Shuangxi), also get off at Magang. The lighthouse can be reached by walk.
MEMO There is a display room at the bottom of the lighthouse that shows all of the lighthouses around the country and the lighthouse stamps ever issued by the Chunghwa Post. It also explains the Customs Administration’s main services. You’ll find a variety of light components and models, too.
