MEMO Close by the Bitou Cape Geological Park there is an artificial pool that was originally a Taiwanese Abalone breeding pool. As of now, it has been rebuilt as an ocean pool for tourists to swim, play, and dive in. Don’t forget to bring an extra set of clothing!

  • At the 84 kilometer mark just past Nanya along the Coastal Highway, Bitou Cape can be seen from afar protruding into the blue ocean. The Bitou Cape Coastal Park provides a restaurant area, sea-view platform, parking lot, pavilion, public restroom, boardwalk and other facilities. Here you can park and taste local seafood delicacies while watching the sea.

  • The rock formations along Nanya’s shores appear in numerous strange forms, becoming one of the most obvious symbols of the Northeast Coast. Drawing-like erosion striations are the most beautiful characteristics of the Nanya rocks. While gazing at the striation waves, one is reminded of the waters of the ancient past vividly flowing past our feet.

  • Here, observe the unusual view of Yin-Yang sea and experience the natural and cultural beauty of Jinguashih while admiring the historical remains of its golden past.

  • Jinguashih is a famous mining area within Taiwan, also known as the “Golden Homeland”. The old gold mines have now been made into the Gold Ecological Park. Within the park there is an environment hall, the Crown Prince Chalet, the gold shrine, Benshan Fifth Tunnel, Japanese dorms and etc., comprehensively offering tourists a deeper insight into the gold digging days of Jinguashih.

  • Jiufeng, located besides Keelung Mountain, is a mountain city. Tourists pass through the bustling old street (Jishan Street), tasting chewy taro balls, mugwort cakes, taro cakes and other local delicacies. They shop for hand-made clogs, snacks from the old days, hand-drawn clothing and other local specialties. The best thing to do here is find an old tea house and take in the breathtaking view of mountain and sea while tasting the sweet fragrance of world-famous Taiwan tea.

MEMO The beach is open annually from June to September. Its long sand spit makes it the most beautiful beach in Fulong. Beach volleyball and sand sculpturing are highly popular here in addition to playing in seawaters. If you want to try canoeing, we also recommend the Longmen Coastal Area.

  • The red-bricked, white-walled building right besides the Fulong Beach is the Northeast Coast Administration and Fulong Visitors Center. The Visitors Center is divided into two floors, offering information on the natural ecology, cultural history and other aspects of the Northeast Coast.

  • The blue waters, soft beaches and pursuing waves of the Northeast Coast strike up the urge to ride the waters. The Northeast Coast offers stable winds and a wide heartland, thus forming the perfect location for wind and wave sports such as windsurfing and sailing. It has also become a haven for surfers, with dozens of surfers zigzagging through the white waves on weekends, adding to the dazzling view. The waters of Fulong are the perfect place for water activities, with many stores selling or renting surf gear. Now that you can easily enjoy the joy of surfing, why not come and try for yourself!
